# WriteMate.io

> WriteMate.io is a free AI writing assistant browser extension for Chrome, Firefox, and Edge.
> It adds six one-click AI actions to every website: Rewrite, Grammar Fix, Generate, Translate,
> Refine, and Listen. Family-safe content policy is enforced by default. No account is required
> to start. Raw text is never logged; saved history is encrypted at rest and user-deletable.

## What it does

- **Rewrite** — transform selected text into one of seven tones (professional, friendly, casual, formal, concise, empathetic, confident).
- **Grammar Fix** — correct grammar, spelling, punctuation, and style while preserving the author's voice.
- **Generate** — produce emails, replies, posts, and long-form content from freeform prompts or built-in templates.
- **Translate** — translate selected text into 18 languages: English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Russian, Hindi, Dutch, Swedish, Polish, Turkish, Indonesian.
- **Refine** — iterate on an existing AI output with a follow-up instruction (e.g. "make this shorter").
- **Listen (Beta)** — hear any selected text read aloud.

## How to use it

1. Install the extension from the Chrome Web Store or Firefox Add-ons.
2. Select any text on any website — a floating toolbar appears with every action.
3. Click into any editable field — a WriteMate icon appears for generate-from-scratch.
4. Right-click any selection — a WriteMate context menu is always available.

## Pricing

- **Anonymous** — free, no account. 10 AI requests per day. Family-safe mode always on.
- **Registered** — free account (email or Google Sign-In). 20 AI requests per day. Adds request history, per-site settings, and the option to relax the family-safe filter for legitimate professional use.
- **Pro** — paid subscription via Stripe. Unlimited requests, priority processing, advanced templates, priority support. Monthly and yearly options; yearly is discounted.

## Privacy and safety

- Raw input text and AI output are never written to server logs.
- Saved history is encrypted at rest with industry-standard encryption and fully user-deletable.
- Anonymous sessions are identified by a temporary UUID; anonymous usage data is purged after 7 days.
- A hard-block layer — content exploiting minors, facilitating real-world harm, or enabling fraud — is always enforced regardless of account tier.
- The default family-safe filter blocks profanity, hate speech, and inappropriate content for all users; registered users may opt out for legitimate contexts such as fiction writing.

Mobile browsers are not supported because they do not allow content-script extensions.
